Summer is here and it is time for outdoor living! American Legion Newellton Post 174 offered a chance to enjoy homemade ice cream, live entertainment, and a chance to win a Brinkmon 4-burner outdoor barbecue pit at their annual "Ice Cream Social" held on July 5, 2010 at 6:30 PM. The event was held at the Post 174 Home on Verona Street in Newellton, as reported by Post 174 Commander Bill Stroud.
Homemade ice creams were available for sampling and a drawing for the barbecue grill donated by Home Depot was held. Tickets were available by making a $2.00 contribution to the heating and air conditioning fund. The money will go to restore the indoor climate of the American Legion Hall which is used not only for their meetings, but a variety of other community activities.

Entertainment for the evening included Miss Baylee Regan, 10 year old vocalist from Monroe, and her grandfather, Mr. Lytle, who plays harmonica and a variety of other instruments.
Also on the program was Fulton McGraw and his "saw". Photo at right shows Baylee Regan and Post 174 Chaplain Fulton McGraw entertaining the group at the Ice Cream Social on July 5. Besides singing for the crowd, Baylee accompanied Fulton McGraw using a violin she built herself while Chaplain McGraw played a regular capenters hand saw.
