From Bill Stroud, Commander - Newellton Post 174 This is one of the final collection containers for the worn, torn, and faded Flags of our country prior to being placed in the cleansing flame in an honorable, dignified ceremony that is authorized by the National Flag Code of our country. In a recent ceremony held in conjunction with Flag Day, June 2008, the following groups were represented along with Post 174: Bruin-Vidal Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution; Winter Quarters Staff and State Park members and visitors to Lake Bruin State Park. American Legion Post 174 and the above groups worked together to make this program a success.
