6th District and Post 16 Covington Participates In The 2010 Southeast Annual Agricultural Award And St. Tammany Jr. Livestock Show |
It’s that time of year when 4H and FFA students get together at the District level and strut their stuff at the annual Southeast Louisiana District 4H/FFA Jr. Livestock Show. District 6 Commander Terry Sharp was on hand to present the 6th District’s Annual Award for the 4H/FFA program which falls under the Americanism Program. The District presented a $500 Savings Bond to the King and Queen of this event as chosen by the District Show Committee. Each student also received a certificate designating the award and signed by the District Commander and District Americanism Chairman. This was the second year that the 6th District has presented these awards and hopes to continue the experience. District Commander Terry Sharp of Post 16 Covington presented “Show King” Mitch Howze of Loranger High School, Tangipahoa Parish, and “Show Queen” Karine Cifreo of Walker High School, Livingston Parish with their awards.
Once again Post 16 also showed their support of the St. Tammany Parish 4H/FFA Jr. Livestock Show and on Friday, January 29, 2010 sent a committee to the auction to make a purchase during the 2010 Livestock Show and join the list of community sponsors. Post 16 came away with a 230 lb. prize pig purchased from Tristan Rainey, a student at Folsom Jr. High School and 4H Club. Photos below are from both of the events.
